First World Flight Centennial Launches on Lake Washington and Beyond

This Saturday, April 6th marked the 100th Anniversary of the First World Flight take-off from Lake Washington. For the occasion we:

  • Hosted the 100 Beers for 100 Years! event at the Magnuson Cafe & Brewery, overlooking the historic runway. The program included 1920's dancers from the Savoy Swing Club, historical banter between Centennial Co-Chair, General Frank Goodell and Mossback Northwest's Knute Berger, Feliks Banel's Cascade of History program live broadcasted from the event and raffle prizes from Kenmore Air, Galvin Flying and Museum of Flight.

  • Launched our"Follow the Journey" Instagram page @firstworldflightcentennial which will feature one post a day from take-off to landing (April 6-September 28) featuring historic images, newspaper articles and footage from the Fliers' 175-day adventure.
